In the Hood
The TRACTION team had a ball at the “In Your Neighbourhood”event yesterday at Greenslopes, organised by Brisbane City Council’s award-winning Cycling Brisbane program. It was a perfect Brisbane Saturday morning to get out and about and TRACTION mentors Karl, Luke and Richard lead the charge providing free bicycle safety checks and tune-ups for the public. The event was held beside the Norman Creek bikeway and was extremely well attended by avid cyclists and families alike. There were heaps of free activities, including:
- the chance to pedal your own mango or berry smoothie thanks to Bike’n’Blends
- e-bike test rides thanks to Bicycle Queensland and 99 Bikes
- bicycle skills lessons for kids
- heaps of information about bike riding in Brisbane thanks to Cycling Brisbane
‘Rider’, one of the superhero characters of the Brisbane City Council’s active school travel program even made an appearance!
The “In Your Neighbourhood” event was the first held by Cycling Brisbane with the purpose of encouraging people to ride more often. The next event will be held on 28th April, 8-11am at Kedron Brook Bikeway (near Mitchelton Football Club, off Osborne Rd), Everton Park. Click HERE for more details.
